These groundbreaking advancements not only demonstrate his dedication to pushing the frontiers of urological surgery but also highlight his focus on improving patient recovery and quality of life.
Mr Wissam Abou-Chedid is not only dedicated to advancing prostate cancer care but also continually seeks new and modern techniques for the treatment of benign enlargement of the prostate, aiming to improve the quality of life for men experiencing urinary symptoms.

Mr Wissam Abou-Chedid is professional, caring, and confident in his patient interactions, offering clear and reassuring communication. He performs robotic prostatectomy procedures, including Retzius-sparing and nerve-sparing techniques. Patients often achieve rapid recovery with minimal side effects, such as incontinence or erectile dysfunction. Mr Abou-Chedid's profound expertise in prostate cancer and advanced surgical techniques ensures successful patient outcomes.
First class experience. Cannot speak highly enough of Mr Abou-Chedid. His calm manner and excellent method of explaining procedures reassured me from the beginning at this very worrying time. His aftercare has been incredible, from checking me over following my operation to the 6 week follow up call.
I am extremely satisfied with the entire experience. I received a very comprehensive explanation of the process and the risks. I am just overjoyed by the outcome of my prostatectomy and I put everything down to Mr Abou-Chedids skill and professionalism. I feel incredibly grateful.
I was naturally quite anxious regarding my procedure however, my anxiety was greatly reduced with the reassurance and in depth pre-operative communication I received which allowed me to prepare myself both physically and mentally. Equally, my post operative care has made me feel supported and confident that my recovery has been well managed.
At a time when I felt anxious and vulnerable Mr Chedid provided excellent care. His straight forward communication and positive approach was so reassuring to hear. He was realistic and honest while always explaining everything in concise manner. His skills as a surgeon are well known and his personal qualities are also first rate.
From the initial face to face consultation through the conversation immediately prior to the operation then a reassuring word in recovery and finally a telephone consultation with the (positive) results of the pathology and oncology at 6 weeks post surgery I cannot fault Mr Abou-Chedid's care. His skill cannot be questioned and the excellent post-operative recovery is testament to this. I am sure that his technique of radial prostatectomy coupled with supra-pubic catheter greatly contributed to my recovery. It goes without saying that, given a choice, I would not have opted to have prostate cancer in the first place but for anyone in the unfortunate position of having a diagnosis of cancer I would not hesitate in recommending Mr Abou-Chedid.
Mr W Abou Chedid and his team of other consultants, anaesthetists, recovery ward nurses, and specialist nurses Helen and Maria.have professional, efficient, and caring. Although a very scary time their caring attitude has my family and myself.
My experience under Mr. Wissam Abou-Chedid was outstanding - it was proficient, kind and thoughtful. The decision to opt for robotic surgery resulted in an outcome that was far better and quicker than expected.
First class. From my first meeting my overall impression was of a very positive and professional Department.
Mr Abou-Chedid is an excellent surgeon. Thanks to his very considerable skill and experience I have made a full recovery from my recent life-saving prostatectomy. Also his communication and explanations are clear and easy to understand. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Mr Abou-Chedid, and I remain very grateful to him.

This year’s exclusive course in #roboticsurgery at IRCAD brought together 44 participants from 17 countries, all united in their commitment to advancing their robotic surgical skills. Through immersive hands-on sessions, attendees performed robotic prostatectomy, cystectomy, and partial nephrectomy on cadavers, gaining invaluable practical experience. The event fostered a dynamic environment of innovation and learning. Thought-provoking discussions covered cutting-edge developments in the field, while renowned experts delivered lectures exploring intricate surgical techniques. Live surgery video sessions offered practical tips and real-time insights, enriching the educational experience. I was delighted to contribute by speaking about #Retzius_sparing robotic #prostatectomy and sharing my own experience with this technique. With international representation from Brazil, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Spain, the UK, and the USA, the IRCAD #urologyfamily, brought together by Thierry Piechaud, continues to lead the way not only in innovation and excellence in robotic surgery, but also in shaping the next generation through world-class teaching. It was a pleasure to attend the #AUA25 meeting in Las Vegas and reconnect with friends and colleagues from around the world to discuss innovations and advances in #roboticsurgery and the treatment of #prostatecancer and benign prostatic enlargement. I had the opportunity to present the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust data on two initiatives focused on improving patient experience and quality of life: - Self-removal of suprapubic catheters by patients following #clipless_Retzius_sparing robotic prostatectomy, promoting greater independence after surgery - The use of Penthrox for patients undergoing transperineal prostate biopsies, helping to significantly reduce discomfort during the procedure. I look forward to welcoming friends and colleagues to the UK for #ERUS25 and #EAU26, both of which will be held in London.

It was a pleasure to host my colleagues Michel Wirtz, Gian Luca Soscia, and Naoufel Miaadi from Luxembourg, Belgium, and France at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust! We had some brilliant conversations around the latest in robotic prostatectomy, especially exciting developments like day-case surgery, patient-led catheter removal, and running high-efficiency theatre lists. I performed two #clipless_Retzius_sparing prostatectomies to showcase this technique, which continues to deliver excellent outcomes for our patients. I also demonstrated how we’re using #Arista to control bleeding effectively while preserving functional results. Big thanks to Cédric Louradour, Geoffrey Deffontaine, and Philippe Wartel from the BD team, and of course to our amazing #TeamAwesome, for pulling everything together and making it such a great day. Plenty of innovation ahead in #roboticsurgery for #prostatecancer. Always a pleasure to share, learn, and grow together!

I had a great day at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust where I joined my good friend and talented surgeon Constantinos Adamou to proctor two #clipless_Retzius_sparing robotic prostatectomies. It was a proud moment to help bring this technique to the Midlands, a meaningful milestone as we continue to grow the use of clipless Retzius-sparing surgery across the UK. It’s a game-changer for so many patients, and seeing it take root in more centres is genuinely rewarding. Even more than the cases themselves, what stood out was the chance to connect with the wider team. We had some brilliant conversations about driving innovation in surgical care, from #daycase prostatectomy and #selfremoval of catheters to #highintensity theatre lists. There’s a real appetite for innovation geared toward enhancing patient experience and optimising use of resources. Huge thanks to the team Anup Krishnan, Omer Altan, Donald MacDonald and Kieran Jefferson for the warm welcome and for making the visit such a pleasure. | 10 comments on LinkedIn
