Dr. Vinay Sehgal

Dr. Vinay Sehgal is a highly respected and accomplished Consultant Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist at University College London Hospital. Dr. Sehgal completed his specialist training in gastroenterology at the prestigious North East London rotation, during which time he also completed his PhD at University College London. His research involved developing a novel tumour model of oesophageal cancer, which has been used in crucial mechanistic, imaging and pre-clinical studies. Dr. Seghal's groundbreaking research in this field has earned him numerous awards and accolades from his peers.

Dr Sehgal has a specialist interest in the early detection and treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). He offers a wide range of minimally invasive endoscopic treatments for GORD, including the STRETTA procedure. Dr Sehgal is also only one of two specialists in the UK who offer endoscopic hiatus hernia repair using the trans-oral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) procedure as an alternative to surgery with excellent outcomes to date.

In addition, Dr Sehgal also has a specialist interest in pre-cancerous conditions of the digestive tract; these include Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Barrett's Oesophagus. He has been a senior co-author of pioneering research for the treatment of early oesophageal cancer, including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA).

He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology and is on the Endoscopy Training Committee for the Royal College of Physicians. He is frequently invited to speak at international conferences.
