Richard Hindley is a consultant urologist focused on patient care. He is dedicated to providing all patients with expert advice and the very highest quality of clinical care. He is able to treat the whole range of urological conditions using the latest proven techniques and the most up-to-date technology to provide timely and low-risk care.
He practices privately at HCA Princess Grace Hospital, London; OneWelbeck Men's Health Centre, London; Circle The Hampshire Clinic and The Candover Clinic in Basingstoke, alongside some of the leading consultants in the field. He receives patient referrals from all over the England and overseas.
Professor Hindley is a Visiting Professor at the University of Winchester and was awarded this position in 2017. He has made some impressive contributions to research into prostate cancer, and run clinical trials designed to further improve treatments and advances in patient care. He is dedicated to improving the diagnostic pathway for patients with prostate cancer and he furthermore researches some of the mechanisms that may cause the disease. Not only this, he has also performed over 500 transperineal prostate biopsies. Richard was heavily involved in the PROMIS trials which have shown considerable evidence of the benefits of having mpMRI scanning for diagnosing prostate cancer and allowing a far more accurate pathway for patients with prostate cancer.
He is also the director of the Greenlight Prostate Cancer Vaporisation training, a surgical technique which led to the NHS excellence committee awarding them for innovation. This technique is better for the patient, in terms of reduced healing time and even in high risk patients, the procedure can be carried out safely and effectively.
Most recently, Richard was the first surgeon to use the new Rezum treatment for BPH in 2017 and has now performed over 800 cases. This innovative new treatment is a minimally invasive procedure which uses steam therapy to reduce the enlarged prostate. Richard is offering this both privately and on the NHS.
On a more personal level, Professor Hindley is a fan of photography, alongside being a lover of tennis, cricket and cycling.

The first follow up clinic post operation was satisfactory and Professor Hindley answered several questions I had about my recovery . I think the recovery period was longer than I expected . I’m not used to taking things easy . A further consultation was scheduled for March when hopefully everything will be back to normal .
Super competent and knowledgeable professional with excellent friendly calm manner and interpersonal/communication skills (excellently supported by Anita as well),
Very straightforward, clear explanation of my situation given in a friendly and easy to follow manner.
Prof Hindley comes over very friendly and explains things in a easy to understand way. Happy to answer your questions and in a clear and concise way.
Very helpful - we discussed the results of my latest scan and then raised a few questions which were answered very clearly, and then planned and agreed the way forward for the next few months.
I believe Professor Hindley has a wealth of experience and has an excellent bedside manner - the latter point of course really key particularly in this clinical area. A very good communicator. No hesitation in making a strong positive recommendation.
Very knowledgeable and professional. Provided MRI results very promptly, which was thoughtful and put my mind at rest.
