Professor Nadey Hakim

Professor Nadey Hakim is a Consultant Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare and also a Professor of Transplantation Surgery. He sees patients privately at a number of locations, including the Harley Street Clinic.

Professor Hakim is a general surgeon, but specialises in bariatric (obesity) and transplant surgery, particularly in kidney and pancreas transplantation. Other interests include GI surgery, paediatrics, varicose veins and laparoscopic procedures. He started the first pancreas transplantation programme in the Souht East of England and he was also part of the surgical team that performed the world's first hand transplantation in 1998 and then the double arm transplantation in 2000.

Professor Hakim obtained his MD in Paris and then underwent surgical training at Guy's Hospital in London. Following this, he received a PhD from the University of London. Other training includes a Gastrointestinal Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in the US and a Transplant Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He is widely published with over 150 peer-reviewed papers and has written numerous textbooks on surgery and transplantations. He has won numerous prizes for medicine and presents regularly in the UK and abroad.
