About Professor Mohamad Hamady

Professor Mohamad Hamady earned his medical degree in 1998. Following three years of surgical training, he furthered his education in clinical and interventional radiology at the American University of Beirut. He completed his interventional radiology training at King's College London in 2001 and then spent two years engaged in clinical research at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital. In 2003, he took on the role of Consultant and Senior Lecturer in clinical and interventional radiology at Imperial College London, where he was elevated to Professor of Practice in Image-Guided Surgery and Interventional Radiology in 2019.

His research focuses on aortic stent grafting, innovative embolization techniques, robotic endovascular procedures and navigation, in addition to virtual reality simulation training for endovascular skills. Recently, he initiated a collaborative project intended to examine the significance of physiological parameters in vascular interventions.

Professor Hamady has authored over 200 articles in peer-reviewed academic journals and contributed 14 chapters to various books. In the past five years, he has delivered more than 60 talks and keynote addresses at national and international conferences.

He has executed a range of pioneering procedures, encompassing laser atherectomy for peripheral vascular disease, the inaugural robotic endovascular aortic intervention in 2008, the first robotic fibroid embolization in 2012, and the United Kingdom’s first robotic prostate artery embolization in 2017.

Professor Hamady has held several significant roles in national and international societies. He has served on scientific and educational committees for the British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR), the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), and the Pan Arab Interventional Radiological Society (PAIRS). He has provided advice to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on managing pulmonary embolism and heavy menstrual bleeding. Currently, he serves as the Pan London Training Program Director for Interventional Radiology with Health Education England and is an executive council member of the British Society of Interventional Radiology.
