It has been almost four months since I donated a kidney to my husband, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had Mr Prodromos Laftsidis as my Consultant Kidney Surgeon. From my very first consultation, he put me completely at ease — taking the time to listen to my concerns and clearly explain every aspect of the procedure, including both the benefits and potential risks. His calm, reassuring manner inspired great confidence before and after surgery, which was invaluable during such a challenging time. Mr Laftsidis’s exceptional surgical skill, combined with his compassion, professionalism, and excellent communication, made me feel as though I was his only patient. He also has a wonderful sense of humour, which he shares at just the right moments to lighten the mood. I am deeply grateful for his outstanding care and dedication, and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone in need of a kidney specialist or surgeon.
A truly outstanding consultant who goes above and beyond for his patients As an international patient, my family and I chose to seek medical care for my 28-year-old son in London, and over the past 14 months he has had three admissions. From the start, it was clear that Mr Laftsidis is not only an exceptionally skilled surgeon but also an extraordinary human being who genuinely cares for his patients. He performed my son’s complex arteriovenous brachiocephalic fistula surgery with great expertise and has since continued to oversee his care with outstanding dedication, ensuring his ongoing dialysis optimisation. My son’s case, as a young patient with end-stage kidney disease, is particularly challenging, yet Mr Laftsidis has managed it with exceptional skill and careful attention. What truly sets him apart is his remarkable accessibility — my son has always been able to reach him directly at any time, day or night, for reassurance or advice, and Mr Laftsidis always responds with empathy and kindness. He personally reviewed my son multiple times each day as an inpatient, including evenings, late at night, and during weekends, continuing to go far beyond what is required of him. His professionalism, compassion, and personal commitment have made an immeasurable difference. We are profoundly grateful for his care. A grateful mother

I felt and understood an incredible level of professionalism and dedication to both my surgery but also to the care of patients in general. The surgery went completely without hitch and followed exactly as I had been described by Makis. He puts your mind at rest. I would like to thank Makis for all he support, care, and professional nature to allow for a very successful surgery. Thanks so much. Lex

I recently underwent a complex surgery to repair an aneurysm on the artery to my left kidney. Mr Laftsidis (Makis) was there for me every step of the way. On first meeting Makis he spoke to me about the procedure with real clarity and with a confidence that was so reassuring for both myself and my wife. I felt a rapport with Makis, helped by his positive attitude and his sense of humour and on the day of the operation, though obviously nervous, I knew I was in safe hands. Makis was there for me post op also, a time of vulnerability for patients, he arrived bedside and talked me through the operation as it had taken place, again this was a great comfort and very reassuring. Since then he has continued to be in touch with the results of blood tests etc and, as you can see, I have nothing but good things to say about him!
Doctor were so humble and kind since our first visit, he did the graft placement tube for my father (78 old with myeloma and diabetes). So far everything is good and he’s doing great. Doctor discharged in the same day after 12 hour post surgery.
It was good experience, doctor was so kind and he was open to questions although he already explained it very well.
Great overall experience. I felt confident going into surgery and making good progress following surgery. Very happy with the treatment and follow up I received. Thank you!
Mr Laftsidis performed my arteriovenous fistula formation last year, and I recently saw him for a follow-up during a short visit to London as an international patient. I am still incredibly grateful for his results —my fistula has functioned flawlessly since the day it was formed. This procedure has completely changed my dialysis journey. Having reliable, consistent access has made my dialysis smoother and less stressful, which has had an enormously positive impact on my daily life and peace of mind. Mr Laftsidis is not only a brilliant surgeon but also a truly patient-centered consultant. He took the time to explain everything clearly, made me feel safe and supported, and delivered surgical care of the highest standard. I am incredibly grateful and highly recommend him to anyone in need of expert vascular access surgery.
