I am an ENT Surgeon specialising in voice and throat disorders. I practice at The Royal National ENT Hospital which is part of University College London Hospital. I see private patients at The London Clinic and One Welbeck. I manage a range of conditions, including:
Voice disorders:
I am a fellowship-trained specialist in medical voice disorders, internationally recognised for my expertise in voice pathology. I provide expert care for a wide range of voice conditions, including hoarseness, laryngitis, vocal cord lesions, and voice changes in professional voice users. My practice also includes specialist services in voice feminisation, voice deepening, and detailed voice assessment and analysis. For further information, please visit https://voicespecialist.co.uk/
Chronic Cough and Throat Clearing:
I am widely recognised as an expert in the management of chronic cough and persistent throat clearing related to ENT conditions. Working closely with a network of respiratory physicians and cough control therapists, I treat complex cases, including those where patients have suffered symptoms for many years. My approach includes targeted treatment of upper airway allergy, throat-focused therapies, and the use of superior laryngeal nerve blocks and medication to interrupt habitual coughing patterns.
Throat Symptoms:
Symptoms such as the sensation of a lump in the throat, persistent throat phlegm, discomfort, and other abnormal sensations are among the most common reasons for seeking ENT consultation. I have extensive experience in diagnosing and managing these symptoms, employing a tailored, multi-therapy approach to optimise outcomes for each individual patient. The hospitals where I practice are equipped with state-of-the-art imaging and endoscopy facilities, enabling rapid diagnosis and prompt initiation of treatment.

Dr. Nick Hamilton is professional, friendly, and clear in talks with patients. He shows great skill with procedures like laryngeal Botox injections and vocal fold surgery. These treatments give patients back their voice and breathing. They improve life quality. Dr. Hamilton's care brings relief from voice problems and vocal cord disorders.
Dr Hamilton is very professional and determined to solve the issues. I am hopeful that this treatment will be a winner.
I was referred to Mr Hamilton through the NHS. From our initial consultation to the surgery that was scheduled soon after, and from the procedure itself to the after care, the experience was excellent. I felt heard in the consultation and diagnosis of R-CPD, and the treatment (injections of Botox) seem to have worked exactly as hoped. I couldn't recommend the treatment and Mr Hamilton highly enough.
Nick examined me, clearly explained the problem and the solution. I decided to go ahead with the procedure which Nick performed the following week which was quick and painless, the results are excellent.
I don’t think I could have found a better ENT consultant to deal with my voice tremor. Mr Nick Hamilton is charming, professional and very competent, he listens attentively and explains everything with great clarity. I was nervous about the laryngeal Botox injection but he put me at ease and administered it swiftly and competently. A first class consultant.
We are extremely grateful to Mr. Nick Hamilton for his support and advice. We recommend him wholeheartedly.
Mr Hamilton provided exemplary care and skilled surgery for my paralysed vocal fold.
The Doctor was nice, welcoming and helpful.
It was very good, he was very helpful and a well-experienced man. He did his job very professionally. I am very satisfied and happy.
Following a partial thyroidectomy in 2022 and subsequent right vocal cord palsy, I had given up on ever having a normal voice and breathing again. Mr Hamilton performed a titanium implant just three weeks ago. My voice is normal and I can even sing. He is one of the nicest and professional consultants you will ever meet. His team is incredible too. All of my appointments were on time. I’m returning as an after dinner speaker very soon, knowing that my voice will hold. Thanks so much to the skills of Mr Hamilton, his wonderful team and of course UCLH and my vocal therapist Maria. I’m so grateful. PH
