Mr Vishal Prasad

Mr Vishal Prasad is a consultant trauma & orthopaedic surgeon. He specialises in spinal surgery, including minimally invasive techniques such as XLIF and kyphoplasty. He has a specialist interest in pain management, trauma and degenerative cervical, thoracic and lumbar disease.

Mr Prasad completed his medical training at St Andrews and Manchester University, before undertaking surgical training in Manchester and gained entry into the South West Thames higher surgical rotation. During this time he gained an interest in spinal surgery and worked with a number of spinal consultants. Following this, he gained experience in degenerative, tumour and trauma surgery and undertook a 12 month fellowship in adult and paediatric deformity and complex revision at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH).

Following his fellowship at RNOH, he was appointed as a locum spinal consultant at the RNOH for 16 months before taking up his permanent NHS post at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

He is passionate about providing compassionate patient care and delivering excellent clinical outcomes. Mr Prasad has undertaken over 300 anterior and posterior scoliosis operations, 165 lumbar decompression and fusions, 130 lumbar decompressions, 50 cervical procedures and 60 trauma and tumour cases.
