Vish is a triple fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery. He undertook his medical degree at UCL and subsequent higher orthopaedic training in the East Midlands (UK).
He has trained in four of London's renowned tertiary hospitals and has travelled as far as Japan to build his specialist skills in arthroscopic ‘keyhole', shoulder and elbow surgery as well as shoulder replacement and, complex upper limb fracture surgery. Vish is also felllowship trained in hand surgery.
Vish continues to serve in the NHS and has a high volume NHS practice at the prestigious Royal Berkshire Hospital Shoulder and Elbow Unit, Reading. Vish performs a minimum of 400 procedures a year and monitors his patient outcomes.
He is extensively involved in medical education which includes teaching Oxford University Medical students, physiotherapists, as well as nationally training future consultants in shoulder and elbow surgery. He also works as teaching faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons of England helping to enhance surgical care.
Vish is also one of a few surgeons who are Members of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine UK, helping him to treat sports related injuries non-operatively and is also uniquely skilled to provide his patients Ultrasound guided injections. His general philosophy is that an accurate, specialist assessment together with a team-based approach to rehabilitation help patients to make a full recovery without the need for surgery in the majority of shoulder problems when managed early.
Vish uses the latest technology and modern surgical techniques to ensure his patients can start rehabilitation sooner after surgery. He has presented research nationally and internationally on rotator cuff repairs, shoulder instability and has won an international prize on patient safety research work.
Vish prides himself as being kind, friendly and above all a dedicated doctor for his patients to ensure a successful recovery. His practice is evidence based and he closely works with physiotherapists and radiologists to ensure his patients get the right diagnosis and prompt personalised treatment.

This man is a magician! He did an amazing job on my wrist and now I firmly believe he has fixed my shoulder.
Mr Patel was very helpful and attentive, and I am very happy with my experience
I have been seeing Mr Patel over the past year for issues related to my shoulder AC joint, I have found his advice helpful and had visited physio for several months before it was decided an operation was required Mr Patel carried out the operation and has seen me 2 times since, this visit today was final sign off as the issue is now resolved.
Mr Patel helped with some arthritis in my finger, providing both more more movement and significantly less discomfort. The treatment was thorough and well explained. Great surgery location too (in Battersea Power Station).
Very short wait to see Mr Patel, and a very satisfactory visit. Thank you.
Mr Patel was very clear with all the information that he gives. Honest and supportive, I felt very safe in his hands :)
I broke my collarbone and my shoulder blade in the summer, the NHS were extremely slow whereas Vish saw me on the same day I contacted him, and had me in for surgery a week later putting an end to my nightmare. It didn’t take very long at all to recover from what was quite a nasty break. Hopefully I won’t need him again but I know exactly where I’ll go if I do!
My experience was a really good one. Vish was very clear about the complete process, and preparation and post operation advise. I would certainly recommend Vish as an extremely friendly, professional surgeon.
