Mr Neil Barber was appointed to Frimley Park Hospital, a hospital consistently ranked as one of the best in England and Wales, in 2005. His remit was to continue enhancing the nationally recognised minimally invasive urological service. Beyond providing core and general urological care, Mr Barber has developed a renowned kidney cancer service, performing open, laparoscopic (keyhole) and robotic-assisted procedures such as pyeloplasty, partial nephrectomy and radical nephrectomy for cancerous and non-cancerous conditions of the kidney, as well as similar surgery for the adrenal gland.
He is one of the largest volume surgeons for such procedures in the UK but almost uniquely performs nearly all of his robotic procedures via an approach that reliably minimises blood loss and in-hospital stay time, in turn affording his patients a very rapid return to normal activities.
For the last 15 years, Mr Barber has also been at the forefront of the management of lower urinary tract symptoms, particularly in men suffering from symptoms from benign growth of the prostate - BPH or BPE. He was the primary driver behind the introduction of the Greenlight Laser to the UK and has performed more than 1500 procedures using this innovative technology.
In the last 10 years, he has lead the UK arm of a trial using the Urolift implants and was the first to offer the Prostatic Urethral Lift procedure using the Urolift implants to patients under the NHS banner. As a result, Mr Barber is not only the highest volume surgeon in the UK and Europe in this field, he also teaches and lectures extensively on the Urolift implants around the globe.
Similarly, Mr Barber has pioneered the introduction of Aquablation of the prostate using the Aquabeam system and iTIND to the NHS in the UK with unparalleled experience in these procedures. This experience in the wide range of surgical options available, including Rezum, affords and informed opportunity to tailor surgery for BPH to the patient rather than the other way round
On a personal level, Mr Barber's free time is spent swimming, cycling, attending the theatre or cinema, and reading. That said, he mostly tries to profit from the time that he has with his three children and his wife.

Mr Barber instantly recognised what was causing my problem, namely blood clots in my bladder and he flushed out a significant quantity before inserting a new, larger catheter and I was allowed to leave after the new catheter was observed to be working.
Neil Barber is the go-to guy in urology, particularly kidney cancer. He is also a pioneer in prostate management with aquablation therapy a prime example.
