Mr Mike Norwood

Mr. Mike Norwood is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Leicester Royal Infirmary, where he has been since 2010. He currently serves as the lead clinician for colorectal cancer at the hospital. In addition to his NHS role, Mr. Norwood has been practising privately since 2012, consulting insured and self-pay patients at Nuffield Health and Spire Hospitals in Leicester.

Mr. Norwood specialises in minimally invasive (keyhole and robotic) surgery for bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and hernias. He is also skilled in treating various perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids (piles), anal fissures, anal fistulas, and pilonidal sinus. As an accredited Bowel Cancer Screening Programme colonoscopist, he provides bowel cancer screening and performs a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including colonoscopy and laparoscopic/robotic hernia repairs.

He has undergone surgical training in the UK and Australia, with a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery. Mr. Norwood is also involved in academic teaching and research, serving as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester, where he is involved in the surgical curriculum for medical students. He participates in clinical research and has presented his findings at national and international conferences.

Mr. Norwood is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and the British Hernia Society. He holds two current NHS posts as a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Leicester Royal Infirmary and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester.
