Mr Mahi Muqit

Mr Mahi Muqit is a Consultant 'Vitreoretinal' Surgeon at world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. He graduated from the University of London before qualifying in Medicine from the University of Glasgow Medical School. He went on to train at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow and Yorkshire School of Ophthalmology. Mr Muqit completed two advanced vitreoretinal fellowships at the Oxford Eye Hospital and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He completed a PhD at the University of Manchester and conducted pioneering research in novel laser treatments for diabetes.

His research interests include clinical trials, artificial retinal implants, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. He was awarded a prestigious NIHR (National Institurte for Health Research) research grant and is currently the Chief Investigator of this national UK randomised controlled trial for endophthalmitis treatments.

Mr Muqit was appointed as a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, with subspecialist expertise in surgical retina, medical retina, age-realed macvular degeneration, and complex cataract surgery. He has a busy vitreoretinal practice at Moorfields private within London, and uses the latest minimally-invasive vitrectomy techniques in his surgical practice. He regularly audits his surgical outcomes that are well above the national benchmarks.
