Consultant Orthopaedic & Sports Physician
"Dr. Bush is a world authority on the conservative management of spinal pain, giving his patients the best chance of avoiding surgery."
Clinical Background
After qualifying at the Royal Free Hospital, London, in May 1978, Dr. Bush studied with James Cyriax to become an orthopaedic physician. He conducted a number of studies on the use of injectional techniques in the management of spinal pain throughout the 1980s and 1990s, publishing in peer-reviewed journals such as Spine and The European Spine Journal, and continues to do so. He was awarded his doctorate by the University of London in 1992. His research has been cited more than 660 times in over 130 international peer-reviewed journals. He has worked at a private practice in Harley Street and The London Clinic since 1983, in addition to holding honorary consultant orthopaedic surgical posts at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London, for teaching purposes, in 1994 and 1995 and being on the GMC Specialist Register since 1996. He was an honorary clinical lecturer at Imperial College from 2002 to 2005 and was elected as a founding fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2007. What’s more, he lectured on the annual London Imperial Spine Course for 19 years, is on the editorial board of Spine, and was president of The Society of Orthopaedic Medicine from 2006 to 2013.
Personal Interests
Dr. Bush's passion for sports medicine stems from his own enjoyment of physical activity. He has played squash at a national level, taken part in international waterskiing competitions, and was the British Motorcycle Endurance Champion in 2000 and 2001.
