Reluctant to operate but willing to listen to patient and to take considered approach to risks / tradeoffs
Was very happy with Prof Choi’s dealing with my recent surgery, it was not without risk and this was never sugar coated. He was prepared and didn’t everything to reduce risk and the surgery was a success as a result!
My appointment with Professor Choi was organised promptly and smoothly. I was in tremendous pain and very concerned about my fast-deteriorating mobility when I saw him. Dr Choi listened to my symptoms carefully and answered my questions clearly and fully. He explained the choices of treatment available and stated which option he considered would have the best chance of success for me. I liked the fact that he was so straightforward. He also explained the possible risks. I was confident that he had taken everything fully into account and was so relieved and grateful when I was offered an operation the following day. It’s very early days, but I am now pain free and mobility is returning.
My experience in Wellington South was very satisfactory, people at reception were efficient, I was promptly taken up to my room and all other pre- operation processes were carried out smoothly. All staff were very efficient as well as friendly and helpful. The room was ready and clean.
Doctor was professional and caring, showing empathy at all times. Listened to my concerns and asked about my wellbeing at all times. Operation preparation and execution went well and was re-assured at all times during the process. All professional staff acted in a caring manner which included nurses, doctors , physio Team and catering Team.
Prof Choi is an amazing doctor he really helped me with my problem . He done my operation for me so wonderfully. I am so grateful to him.
I had anterior cervical disc replacement surgery performed by Professor David Choi in June 2025. The entire experience—from consultation to post-operative care—was excellent. Professor Choi was clear, confident, and reassuring throughout. The surgery went smoothly with no complications, and recovery has been well-managed with clear guidance. I’m grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend him to anyone needing spinal surgery.
Prof Choi is excellent spine and skull base surgeon with great clinical experience
