About Mr Ali Abbasian
Mr Ali Abbasian is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in foot and ankle conditions. Based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, he also sees patients privately. His practice includes both routine and complex reconstructive and sports procedures, with particular expertise in total ankle replacements and minimally invasive (keyhole) bunion correction.

He then undertook advanced sub-specialist training through a prestigious Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the New England Foot and Ankle Center, Mercy Hospital, Portland, Maine — a programme recognised by the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Importantly unlike surgical podiatrists, Mr Abbasian is a medically trained doctor who has gone on to specialise in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery.
He is the Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Guy’s Hospital and Director of the Foot and Ankle Fellowship Programme, where he trains senior orthopaedic surgeons in managing complex foot and ankle conditions.

Earlier this year, I suffered a Weber type B ankle fracture with a syndesmosis injury. Dr Abbasian performed the surgery, and I couldn’t have asked for better care. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate throughout the entire process. He took the time to clearly explain the nature of the injury, the surgical procedure, and what to expect during recovery. The surgery went smoothly, with no complications and minimal post-operative pain. My recovery was also much quicker than expected. I’m truly grateful to Mr Abbasian for his excellent care and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of ankle surgery.

I went to see Mr Abbasian after experiencing ankle pain and instability. He quickly identified that I had completely severed two lateral ligaments (ATFL and CFL) in my right ankle, and advised surgical reconstruction. I received clear and helpful advice throughout from Mr Abbasian, who was able to offer me a surgery date within a few weeks of first meeting. I am now 7 weeks post surgery - I am healing well and without any complications and am very grateful to Mr Abbasian for a successful surgery and for excellent care from him and the whole team. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mr Abbasian.
