Mr Alasdair Mace is an experienced senior Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist practising in London, UK. He has a passion for excellence and providing the highest possible quality of care.
His subspecialist areas of expertise include throat, swallowing & voice disorders, tonsil problems, neck lumps, nose and sinus issues, ear infections & wax and mouth problems. In addition to this Mr Mace sees all general ear, nose and throat problems in adults and children.
He has been a Consultant ENT Head and Neck Surgeon at Charing Cross and St Mary's Hospitals since 2009. In addition to clinical roles, Mr Mace is an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College Medical School. He was Head of ENT, Audiology and Oral Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust from 2013 to 2017 and is now the Lead Clinician for Head and Neck Cancer.
He has also received an NHS Award for Clinical Excellence.
Alasdair graduated from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, Imperial College, London in 1996. His higher surgical ENT training was based in central London teaching hospitals including St Bartholomew's, and The Royal Free Hospitals.
In 2007 he completed a visiting fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University Medical School, Boston, USA, where he learnt advanced thyroid and parathyroid surgery techniques. He also completed research into laryngeal nerve monitoring in thyroid surgery and papillary thyroid cancer.
When he returned to the UK in 2008 Alasdair was awarded the position of Royal College of Surgeons Senior Fellow in Laryngology. He developed advanced skills in the management of voice, airway and swallowing disorders.
He has published nearly 40 academic papers and 3 book chapters, and teaches on a number of national and international medical courses. He is a teaching faculty member of the Royal College of Surgeons and an Examiner for MB, BS. He is also invited overseas as visiting surgeon to various overseas countries.
