Mr Abhinav Gulihar

Mr. Abhi Gulihar is a renowned orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with specialised expertise in shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand surgery. He is particularly noted for his proficiency in minimally invasive keyhole procedures for the shoulder and elbow, as well as shoulder replacement surgeries. Additionally, he excels in treating sports injuries, including fractures and ligament disruptions, always prioritising the latest evidence-based treatments to ensure the best outcomes for his patients.

Mr. Gulihar completed his specialist orthopaedic training in the East Midlands and Kent, Surrey, and Sussex. He further enhanced his skills through a prestigious fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre and the European Arthroscopy Fellowship. His commitment to staying at the forefront of his field has led him to collaborate with leading experts in Europe and the USA. Currently, Mr. Gulihar manages a wide range of cases at Kings College Hospital NHS Trust, addressing both routine and complex upper limb conditions. He also consults and performs surgeries at top private hospitals in London and Kent.

Mr. Gulihar advocates for a conservative approach to treatment, favouring non-surgical management for many upper limb injuries. However, he recommends surgical intervention for specific conditions to promote early mobilisation and quick recovery, while preventing long-term issues such as arthritis or reduced function. Common surgical cases include displaced fractures of the clavicle, wrist (distal radius/scaphoid), and hand (metacarpals). He also frequently addresses severe acromio-clavicular joint dislocations, biceps tendon ruptures, pectoralis major tendon ruptures, and full-thickness rotator cuff tears surgically.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Gulihar is passionate about education and research. As the departmental lead for education and training, he has introduced numerous improvements for trauma and orthopaedic trainees.
