About Mr Abdul Kasem
Oncoplastic breast surgeon, Mr Abdul Kasem is based at King's College Hospital NHS Trust and has specialist expertise in breast screening, family history risk assessment, rapid assessment of breast lumps, and the management of benign breast disease and breast cancer. His special interests are in breast cancer surgery, breast reconstruction surgery, and breast aesthetic surgery. Mr Kasem is part of a highly qualified multidisciplinary team providing patients with comprehensive, holistic care. He is able to perform a number of surgeries including breast cancer surgery, mastectomy, breast lumpectomy, breast reduction, breast uplift, and breast augmentation.
Mr Kasem is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London.
Mr Kasem is one of the first certified cosmetic breast surgeons by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the United Kingdom.
Mr Kasem trained at the Princess Royal University Hospital within the Breast Oncoplastic Unit. Also, Mr Kasem did a secondment with the oncoplastic breast surgery team at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He then joined South-East London Breast Cancer Screening at King's College University Hospital and the oncoplastic surgery team at St Thomas' Hospital to perform the breast oncology procedures for breast cancer patients. In 2014, Mr Kasem was awarded the annual award for outstanding patient experience.
Mr Kasem is continually learning and has attended the European Institute of Oncology as well as a number of international oncoplastic breast surgery centres. Throughout his career, he has published several articles in medical journals on the topics of breast care, breast surgery and breast cancer management.

I was extremely well looked after and all the staff at Chelsfield Park were wonderful.
Mr Kasem was very empathetic and reassuring after I found out I would have to have a mastectomy. I knew that I was in good hands and he has done a fantastic job. I initially had a terrible experience with another consultant and he reinstated my faith in getting treatment. Mr Kasem made sure all of my follow up appointments happened as quickly as possible, and 6 weeks after diagnosis I was having surgery.
Everything was explained from my 1st appointment to my operation and treatment after. It was a shock as had no idea it was cancer . I had so much support and didn't ever feel i couldn't ask anything. Such amazing consultant and staff

Mr Kasem was very kind, made me feel confident I was going to have my scans and then he would give me a clear outcome that I would understand. He took the time, without me even asking, to explain the mammogram I had last week, what they had seen and how the scoring system worked. He then told me exactly what would happen today at the appointment and he specifically asked my consent to examine me, and again before he carried out the examination itself. He checked with me if I had any questions at the end of both the before and after consultations. Honestly, I could not think of a single thing that could have been better, I felt he was incredibly respectful and thoughtful as a doctor.
