About Miss Monika Kaushik
Miss Monika Kaushik is a Consultant Oncoplastic and Cosmetic Breast Surgeon who works at a number of hospitals in the Leicestershire and Nottingham area.
She completed her specialist training in general surgery with breast oncoplastic surgery as her subspecialty interest in the East Midlands Deanery. She then undertook a fellowship in oncoplastic breast surgery at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, and was appointed Consultant at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust in 2013.
Miss Kaushik's main clinical interests are modern management of breast cancer and benign breast conditions to achieve the best outcomes in cancer surgery and breast appearance. Her special clinical interest is in oncoplastic breast surgery. She works with a multidisciplinary approach to individualise patient care.
She has experience in surgical procedures such as skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomies with immediate reconstruction, breast reconstruction techniques with implant, latissimus dorsi flaps (immediate and delayed) and local flaps, therapeutic mammoplasties, symmetrisation procedures including breast augmentation and reduction, nipple reconstruction, sentinel lymph node biopsies, re-do breast surgery and risk-reducing breast surgery.
As well as breast surgery and reconstruction for cancer treatment, she also performs a complete range of cosmetic breast procedures which can be life changing for many patients.
Miss Kaushik is actively engaged in local and national research trials. Her main interests are neoadjuvant therapy in breast cancer, hormonal treatment, predictive and prognostic markers in breast cancer and improving surgical outcomes in oncoplastic breast surgery. Publications can be viewed online.
She is also actively involved in breast cancer awareness drives.

I had an excellent experience with Miss Kaushik. From the moment I had my initial consultation, Miss Kaushik and her assistant were warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. During my consultation I felt listened to and really appreciated the kindness I was shown. Everything was explained clearly to me and I left the appointment feeling I was able to make a fully informed decision to go ahead with the surgery. The surgery itself went without any complications as did my healing. Should there have been any issues I had the contact details for Miss Kaushik and the hospital ward. I am now nearly 4 weeks post operative and I am really pleased with my results. Miss Kaushik has achieved exactly what I asked for and has kept me in proportion with the rest of my body. I couldn’t have asked for anymore. Thank you.
