Dr. Himadri Chakraborty

Dr. Himadri Chakraborty is a Consultant Paediatrician with over 25 years of experience in general paediatrics and neonatology, with a particular focus on gastrointestinal, allergic, and respiratory disorders in children. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health since 2011. He  served as the Clinical Lead  for Children’s Services at Basildon Hospital, where he had overseen the delivery of high-quality paediatric care and leads on service development and clinical governance.

Dr. Chakraborty runs dedicated Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinics at Basildon Hospital, managing a wide range of complex gastrointestinal conditions such as chronic constipation, gastro-oesophageal reflux, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease (including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), multiple food allergies, and eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases.

He is also the Unit Training Director for Locally Employed Doctors at Basildon .He is the former Chair of the Paediatricians with an Interest in Gastroenterology (PeGHAN Group of British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology , Hepatology and Nutrition )in the UK from 2017-2022. He is the author of the National UK curriculum of Special Interest in Paediatric Gastroenterology which is published on the RCPCH website . He served as the Lead for SPIN Training in Paediatric Gastroenterology from 2017-2023. In addition, Dr. Chakraborty is an Examiner for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and an accredited APLS Instructor.

Dr. Chakraborty holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship at Anglia Ruskin University, where he supervises senior trainees undertaking advanced modules in paediatrics and neonatology. He has presented at several international conferences and has been invited as a guest speaker at national  forums. Under his leadership , Basildon Paediatrics Department has won the Best Training Prize at the Easty of England Annual Paediatrics Award twice and he himself received the multiple nominations for Best Educational Supervisor award amongst hundreds of Consultants in East of England Deanery and won the 3rd Prize in 2025 .
