Dr. Shiroma De Silva-Minor was a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust from 2008 to 2024. Dr. De Silva-Minor graduated from University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff in 1995 and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1999. She then went on to train in her chosen specialty in Clinical Oncology, she trained as a specialist registrar in London, working at nationally renowned cancer centres including UCL The Middlesex Hospital, The Royal Free and The Royal Marsden Hospital. In 2003, Dr De Silva-Minor was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) in 2003.
During a fellowship in Head and Neck Radiation Oncology at the prestigious Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Dr De Silva-Minor was awarded the Prize for Academic Excellence by the institution and The University of Toronto for her research into the use of PETCT for identifying head and neck tumours for radiotherapy treatment; showing her excellence in the field of research as well as in clinical practice.
Dr. De Silva-Minor has presented her research at international conferences including The Annual meeting of the Canadian Association of Radiation Oncologists (CARO) in British Columbia and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) in Colorado and in Philadelphia and at the European Society of Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology (ESTRO).
As a Clinical Oncologist, Dr. De Silva-Minor oversees the whole non-surgical aspect of a patients journey from genetic testing, counselling; through to treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, biological therapy, external beam radiotherapy (including partial breast treatment), Intraoperative radiotherapy, PARP inhibitors, CDK4/6 inhibitors and clinical trials; focussed on achieving the best possible outcomes for patients

Dr.DeSilva welcomed me back with the biggest smile. The first thing she did was put my mind at ease by telling me my DEXA scan result was fine. She told me how proud and happy she was that I had followed her recommendation of daily exercise, healthy diet and taking walks in the sunshine. She explained to me the treatment plan for the following year, reassuring me that I was well on the path to recovery. Within 15 minutes of me leaving her office, she sent me a summary letter. I was amazed at her efficiency, her kindness and her genuine interest in my well being.
