About Dr Millicent Stone
Dr Millicent Stone is a Consultant Rheumatologist specialising in osteoporosis and spondyloarthropathy and is a leading expert in female athlete triad syndrome.
Dr Stone qualified in 1991 from the National University of Ireland. She trained in General Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in Ireland before undertaking a Fellowship Training position in Toronto, Canada. Whilst working as a consultant in Toronto, Dr Stone developed the spondyloarthropathy methodology research therapeutics program (SMART) for patients with diseased vertebral joints. This programme has now been rolled out internationally. She also obtained a further degree in Clinical Epidemiology during her time in Canada.
Having returned to the UK, Dr Stone treats patients with general rheumatology, musculoskeletal symptoms and sporting injuries in addition to her specialisation in osteoporosis. She has developed screening programmes for osteoporosis patients across the UK and Canada.

I am very grateful with Dr. Millicent Stone care, she had a lovely bed side maner with a patient, she listens calmly with no rush, she pays attention to every detail about my health. She put in place lots of exams to sort out my enigma diagnosis. I understand i am a puzzle patient, but i felt that Dr. Millicent Stone referred me to Dr. Alexander Lyon cardiologist because it was outside her expertise. Dr. Millicent Stone and Dr. Lyon and Dr. Pixie Mc Kenna didn't give up on me even though they couldn't figure out from where my chest pain was coming from. We are now discovering that my chest pain is coming from the heart( angina prinzmetal) but something else is going on too with my body. The excellent care from these 3 doctors is slowly getting me to recover. I don't have a negative thing to say about Dr. Millicent Stone, she is a doctor with excellent skills and you can trust her 100%.
Dr Millicent Martin is one of the nicest consultants I have ever met I’m 78 and a retired nurse having trained at Guys. She is so professional and extremely knowledgeable in her field of Arthritis in my case. . She has great empathy and compassion and puts you at ease from the moment you meet her. I couldn’t have gone to anyone better. She has now set out a plan for me to improve my health problem I’m delighted .

Dr. Millicent Stone was very calm, listened to everything i had to say, witnessed my sharp pain that look like a heart attack pain but it wasn't. I felt safe with care of Dr. Millicent. I wasn't rushed, she gave me a possible diagnosis Costochondritis to do with a pain that I am experiencing and explain the what are the next steps to do with exams i need to have done and a follow up appointment to discuss my results and to see if the Colchicine 500mg that Dr. Millicent prescribed for my pain works to clear the inflammation of the cartilage around my chest. I feel that Dr. Millicent didn't dismiss my pain, believe that i am not crazy like many people has been telling me. To look for a psychologist because I am going through a lot of exams and no doctor can find out what is wrong with me... I knew something was wrong with my body but I just didn't find a doctor who could pin point exactly why I was in these amoount of pain. So I am very grateful to Dr. Millicent Stone and my GP Dr. Pixie Mc Kenna for not giving up on me and giving me hope to see a light at the end of the tunnel. So thank you very much for both doctors. Dr Millicent Stone is an amazing consultant and so knowledgeable in her field. I couldn’t have been seen by a better consultant. She’s a great listener kind and has great empathy. She’s arranging all the different investigations I need to diagnose what type of rheumatoid arthritis I have. It was a great pleasure to meet her.
