About Dr John Conibear

Dr Conibear is now the Barts Cancer Centre's deputy medical director and deputy director. He is an expert in all non-surgical therapies for lung and breast cancer. He is skilled in chemotherapy, biological therapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and cutting-edge radiotherapy techniques such as deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) for early breast cancer, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), 4D-CT, and both the Cyberknife and Gamma Knife (stereotactic radiotherapy). In addition to his private practice, he is the lead for chemotherapy and the clinical director for thoracic oncology at St. Bartholomew's Hospital.

Dr John Conibear trained at the University Hospital of Wales in 2001 and undertook postgraduate general medical training on The Barts and The London Training Rotation in 2006. He completed a two-year fellowship with the NCRI Radiotherapy Trials Quality Assurance Group at Mount Vernon Hospital before taking up his substantive position in 2014 as a consultant clinical oncologist at St Bartholomew's Hospital. During his fellowship, he researched methods to enhance clinician target outlining during radiotherapy planning, and he received an MD (Res) from UCL in 2018.
