Mr Florian Bast

I was referred to Mr Bast for a significantly deviated septum that was obstructing my breathing and causing sleep apneas, occasional snoring, and resulting in poor sleep quality. He and his team were excellent. The operation lasted 4 hours, during which - given that they had to substantially reshape my septum anyways - they even managed to straighten a slight bump, which was a nice plus. But most importantly, after the recovery period, my breathing difficulties are a thing of the past and it's making a big difference in my life. I just had my one-year follow-up, and I only have good things to say about Mr Bast and his team. The professionalism, kindness and ability they showed with the results they achieved cannot be faulted.

Mr Bast completely changed my life and I can’t thank him enough. I was brushed off by my GP many times but he took me seriously and offered me surgery to fix my nose. Having a blocked nose, a cold 24/7, dripping nose, inability to breath etc really did affect almost every aspect of my life. I’m now able to breath through my nose and leave the house without having to worry.

Booking a septorhinoplasty had been a huge decision, as I had anxiety about the procedure and particularly going under anaesthetic. From my first communication with Julia, I found her to be friendly and open (and very accommodating to my busy work diary and on one occasion lateness to an appointment!). When I met Mr Bast for the first time, I knew straight away that I wanted him to do my surgery. He was incredibly knowledgeable, answered all of my questions and it was clear from my research of him that he was a surgeon to be trusted. I found the whole process from initial booking, to surgery and aftercare, absolutely seamless. Mr Bast reassured my anxieties and I had no hesitation deciding to continue the process with him. Mr Bast’s anaesthetist was also wonderful, very reassuring (as the anaesthetic was my main anxiety) and somebody who I trusted from when I first spoke to him. Following the procedure, Mr Bast kept in contact and was available to answer any queries or worries that I had. I felt as though I was in safe hands, particularly when I had a bad reaction to the antibiotics that I took post-surgery and I was able to speak to him quickly to get advice. Unfortunately I did bruise a little, however I had warned Mr Bast that I may bleed as this is usual for me, however it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. My face recovered quickly and although there is some very, very minor swelling 12 months on, I’m already so pleased with what it looks like and have been since my cast came off after a week. Despite the systems being down Dr Bast didn't let us wait around as he know we could do the post op check regardless. He was caring, answered all of our questions and assured any worries we had. He was knowledgeable and humorous, we felt seen heard and taken care of. We feel lucky to have been under his care through the NHS and can't imagine a better outcome to the treatment he provided.

I had an excellent consultation with Mr Florian Bast today. He was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and made me feel completely at ease. I attended regarding a specific treatment I’ve struggled to find a provider for, and he immediately identified the option and recommended exactly what I had in mind, almost as if he read my thoughts. Dr Florian has helped me immensely with my nasal breathing associated issues. Following a cauterisation in the terminates procedure conducted by FB I’ve experience a major improvement to my breathing, wellbeing and happiness. FB conducts himself with clear cut answers and although I was asleep - clearly has a steady hand and precision under the surgery knife! Thanks again to FB and the GSTT for impacting my life so positively when no one else would listen/ investigate.
