About Dr Birgit Pees
Dr Birgit Pees has worked as a Consultant Dermatologist since 2003 and at University Southampton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) since 2008. She held the position of clinical lead for dermatology in Southampton for five years and played a pivotal role in overseeing major service developments for Dermatology at UHS. She also sees private patients at Spire Southampton Hospital and on request per video consultation or at variable consultation rooms.
Dr Pees earned her medical degree from the University of Giessen, Germany, in 1989. She holds the German specialisation for Dermatology and Venereology (2003- Goettingen University) and a postgraduate Diploma in Allergy from the University of Southampton and achieved her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT-UK) in 2008.
She has extensive expertise in contact allergy/patch testing and diagnosing/treating various forms of dermatitis and hand eczema. Her main field of work is skin cancer and as a proficient dermoscopist she is excelling in the diagnosis of skin cancers, abnormal moles, melanoma, and general dermatology.
Throughout her career, Dr Pees has been dedicated to teaching skin cancer recognition skills on a local and national level. She offers comprehensive services including full body skin checks, mole skin screening, diagnostic biopsies, and excisions. Dr Pees is committed to enhancing the screening process for skin cancer through collaboration with local GPs and improving teaching and training in dermatology for healthcare professionals across all levels. She actively participates in the education of students, GPs, junior doctors, and nurses at Southampton University Hospital Trust (SUHT) and in primary care settings.

Both of my appointments took place at the allotted time. I found Dr Pees to be welcoming, professional and friendly and having gone through my detailed medical history and current symptoms, my treatment options were explained to me and a decision reached as to how to proceed. I did not feel rushed at all and was able to ask questions throughout the process. The treatment given has been successful and was very happy with the level of service provided. Dr Pees' secretary was also excellent.
The most compassionate doctor I have ever dealt with! Dr Pees was so good at communicating her clinical reasoning and advice and most importantly she listened and considered my concerns and questions. She is an assets to the medical profession!
Dr Pees did a fantastic job removing 3 cysts from my scalp and a Spitz naveous (apologies for the potential typo) from my elbow. The sessions were painless, with complete support from her and the team of nurses. She is extremely competent and can explain each process to anyone with no technical knowledge. Highly recommend!
Dr Pees was very professional and extremely helpful in explaining the best way forward for me. I have implemented some of the changes she suggested and am seeing a good result already.
Dr Pees was kind, courteous, thorough and gave me a full explanation of what she discovered. She gave me great advice with regard to avoiding a future recurrence of the problem that I had. I would hesitate to seek her advice in the future. Wonderful!

Also going to use factor 100 from now on. Which Dr Pees kindly gifted me. I know the importance of looking after my skin from now on. She’s incredible.
