Dr Alexander Lyon is a senior lecturer and consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, where he is also the clinical lead for the cardio-oncology service. He sees patients with symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, and dizziness.

He then joined the cardiac medicine research group of Professor Sian Harding and Professor Philip Poole-Wilson, where he examined the effect of cardiac gene therapy on ventricular arrhythmia generation. He was awarded an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship in 2005 and later undertook a PhD at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, where he studied the spatiotemporal patterns of mitochondrial function.
He is currently chair of the UK Cardio-Oncology Consortium and a member of the Heart Failure Association Translational Research Committee.

This was my second visit to see Dr Lyon. The first visit was a special consultation because he at once put me at ease.. He was so clear about what he wanted to achieve in the investigations. The follow-up was just as good when explained the results and what if anything needed to be done. I was so impressed. Perhaps one of the best medical consultations I have ever had. Such an expert in his field!
I've seen upwards of 15 London-based cardiologists in various specialities over the past 22 years, and I sincerely cannot recommend Dr Lyon enough. From the outset, I was treated with kindness and empathy by his PA Lyndsey Hill. Dr Lyon took time to both explain complicated and ongoing cardio concerns in the most efficient and reassuring manner, confidently and expertly setting my mind to rest regarding both my immediate and long-terms concerns. His style is an amalgam of being highly proficient and furiously talented in his field of cardiology, whilst somehow managing the relaxed, easy-natured people skills to keep an anxious patient completely at ease. That's not an easy find. I left this appointment feeling a huge sense of both gratitude and relief. My only slight regret is not discovering him sooner!
Delighted to have met Dr Lyon. He was easy to talk to, professional, and reassuring. He set out a clear plan to attempt to find the root cause of my mother’s heart issues and create the best treatment plan from there. It was only our first meeting but it really felt like we were in good hands.
