She is the lead for colorectal cancer surgery and the colorectal cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT). Additionally, she leads the Multidisciplinary Peritoneal Oncology service at Barts which she established in 2020.

She completed her higher surgical training at the Verona University Hospital. Through her training, she successfully completed an International Colorectal Surgical Oncology Fellowship on Organ Preservation/Watch & Wait in rectal cancer (Sao Paolo, Brazil) and a second International Colorectal Fellowship in advanced and recurrent rectal cancer at the Karolinska Hospital (Stockholm, Sweden). In 2010, she was awarded a PhD for her work on multimodal imaging in colorectal cancer. In 2014, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Ms Minicozzi was first appointed in 2016 as Consultant Colorectal and Peritoneal Surgeon at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. Ms Minicozzi is also the GI Early diagnostic lead across Barts Health NHS Trust and represents the Trust at the North East London Cancer Alliance working group.

Ms Minicozzi’s specialist clinical and academic interests focus on colorectal cancer treatments that require innovative and advanced therapies due to their complexity. She has been responsible in establishing a CRS & HIPEC service for peritoneal metastases from colorectal and appendiceal cancer. Additionally, she has also conducted research on single cell sequencing in rectal cancer to support the Organ Preservation/Watch & Wait strategy in patients with rectal cancer who achieve a clinical complete response after neoadjuvant treatment. She is also the Principal Investigator (PI) of a national randomised trial investigating pressurised intraperitoneal aerosolised chemotherapy (PIPAC) for colorectal cancer patients with extensive peritoneal metastases that cannot be treated by conventional treatments.

Ms Minicozzi has published extensively in surgical journals and contributed to several surgical textbooks. She is an international lecturer on complex cancer surgery. Throughout her career, she has secured multiple research grants.

Anna saved my grandads life! Thank you Anna, from me and my family. Pure, professional, down to earth, and compassionate from giving my grandad the first colon cancer diagnoses back in March 2025 to giving my grandad the call clear in October 2025. Anna was by not just my grandads side but my whole families, answering all the question we threw her way.

Ms Minicozzi clearly explained the surgery that she planned to carry out to remove part of my colon. Her approach was kind, warm, humane and exceptionally reassuring. She answered all of my questions patiently and clearly. This continued post-operation, while I was revovering in hospital, and again as an outpatient. The colo-rectal nursing team were also very supportive.

From the very beginning, Dr. Minicozzi has been incredibly supportive. After receiving my cancer diagnosis, I felt lost and unsure of what would happen next, but she took the time to explain everything clearly and always offered reassurance — something that meant a great deal to me. Her kindness and care will never be forgotten. During my hospital stay, after the cancerous tissue was removed, I began to feel very low and was struggling with depression. I contacted the colorectal cancer nurse, and to my surprise, Dr. Minicozzi came to see me that very same day, giving me the boost and encouragement I so desperately needed. Words cannot fully express my gratitude for the compassion, dedication, and effort she puts into caring for her patients.

From being referred to Miss Minicozzi when first diagnosed with cancer last year it has been an expert, considerate, friendly experience. Nominated me for a trial treatment which was very successful and allowed for me to have an operation which I'm still recovering from but again it was successful. I feel so lucky with getting Miss Minicozzi has my consultant.

Dr Minicozzi is very passionate & professional person who cares about her patients and the overall outcome for the family involved. I cannot speak highly enough Dr Minicozzi & Dr Flora for their efforts during a complicated process. Thanks to all the MDT personnel who have helped me - it is very much appreciated and makes me very proud of the NHS.
