Mr Aminul Ahmed

Mr. Aminul Ahmed is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Senior Lecturer in Neurosurgery affiliated with King’s College Hospital. His expertise lies in complex spinal surgery, encompassing various conditions such as back pain, neck pain, sciatica, disc problems, degenerative spinal disease, spinal tumours, and spinal trauma. Dr. Ahmed's clinical practice emphasises comprehensive patient evaluation and shared decision-making, offering a range of treatment options including injections and minimally invasive surgeries.

Dr. Ahmed has a rich academic background, having pursued academic surgical training and earning a PhD. He furthered his expertise through specialist complex spine fellowships in London and an international research fellowship in Miami. His research focuses on neurotrauma, particularly traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, and explores the potential of stem cell therapies and gene therapies as treatments. Dr. Ahmed has received numerous accolades for his research contributions, including the prestigious 'Arris and Gale Lectureship' from the Royal College of Surgeons.

In addition to his clinical and research endeavours, Dr. Ahmed is dedicated to teaching and supervising PhD students in clinical and basic sciences research. He has a keen interest in various medical conditions affecting older adults, including Parkinson's disease, dementia, delirium, memory impairment, chronic diseases like hypertension and heart failure, falls, frailty, and rehabilitation.
